A photoshoot with Shiatsu massage therapist Karen Livesey

I love photographing people doing what they love!

So when Shiatsu massage therapist Karen Livesey asked me to take some photos of her working with one of her clients, I jumped at the chance.

As well as trying to capture all the different aspects of a Shiatsu massage - an ancient practice which aims to relieve blockages in the body's energy pathways - I took a few portraits of Karen as she worked as I just couldn’t resist that stunning window light. I’m delighted that my favourite portrait (the last one in the gallery below) now adorns her newly refreshed website.

Karen has been a practising and registered practitioner with the Shiatsu Society for more than 15 years. Not only is she hugely experienced, she is one of the kindest and most caring people I know.

She is now available every Wednesday at her studio at Oru Space in East Dulwich.
